The Author
Devakee lives in Mumbai with her hairy and furry family. She is a mother to a 5-year-old Indie pup who is her grumpy alter-ego and a 3-year-old human toddler who identifies as a golden retriever. Devakee loves to spend any possible me-time tinkering with various DIY projects. She is partial to reading fiction romance stories and considers the original Harry Potter 7-book series top-tier literature.
Writing was a hobby she nurtured during the pandemic under the expert mentorship of Ms. Rashmi Bansal. It resulted in her short story being published in Rashmi Bansal’s first fiction book – Saturday Stories, eventually boosting her confidence enough to dare pick Nivedita’s inspirational story to pen down.
Devakee is humbled by this responsibility entrusted upon her by Nivedita and her family and has worked hard to ensuring she has done full justice to their trust in her abilities. Hope you enjoy it.
The Book
What would you do if your dog went missing?
When Nila disappeared from a boarding home near Bengaluru, her family didn’t just post on social media and hope for the best. For 98 days, Nivedita and her family lived every pet parent’s worst nightmare. They moved into unfamiliar villages. They broadcasted on local news. They plastered entire villages with missing posters. And they kept showing up for their dog—long after most people would have stopped.
98 Days of Nila isn’t just a feel-good rescue story. It’s a raw, true account of what happens when love leaves you no choice but to keep going. For anyone who has ever loved an animal like family—or wondered what that love truly means—this is a story of hope, loyalty, and one impossible miracle that will stay with every parent out there.

“I feed 1000+ dogs everyday, but I tend to do everything by myself. Nivi was able to raise an army around her to help search for Nila. She kept thinking of so many creative ways to search for Nila that I could have never thought of. I learnt a lot from her!”
